A1 Licence

For an A1 license you must pass the Compulsory Base Training (CBT) and take a theory test as well as a two-part practical exam. A2 Licence
The A2 Licence is the second step in the process of getting a full motorcycle license. Then, you'll take the on-road section of the test in which you will be expected to demonstrate hazard-avoiding exercises and road positioning. You will also have to perform lifesaver checks and keep two seconds of distance from the vehicle in front of you. There are minor faults that you can commit up to 10 total, which can include things such as not using your mirrors, or not maintaining an appropriate distance from other vehicles.
Once you pass both modules of your A2 motorcycle test, you'll be able to ride any motorbike that falls into the A2 category. This includes the well-known Honda CB500F or Yamaha MT-07 model. These bikes are not particularly powerful but they are more than capable to handle the speed limits, and offer a comfortable and enjoyable ride.

A3 Licence
The A2 Licence allows riders to upgrade to larger bikes with more power. It also comes with additional benefits that you don't get from the CBT like driving on motorways or carrying passengers. You can move from CBT to A2 by completing additional training and passing the relevant practical exams. The A2 licence is valid for two years and may be upgraded to a full, unrestricted A license after two years.
The first step to getting your A2 license is to successfully pass the Compulsory Base Training (CBT) test and the Motorcycle Theory Test. Once you've completed these requirements, you will be able to take the Module 1 and Module 2 practical tests. The module 1 exam will test your riding abilities in a closed-circuit. the module 2 test requires maneuvers on the open road.
You must be able show excellent observation skills during the A2 practical test and be able to anticipate road dangers. You should also be able to apply the correct road positioning and perform controlled maneuvers. For example, you must be able to perform an U-turn and then execute a figure of eight. You must be able to manage your bike even at low speeds, for example when turning at intersections, or responding to traffic signals.
Once you have passed your A2 test, you can begin working towards obtaining the full A license. This can be accomplished through the progressive access route or by taking a direct entry test. You must pass both mod 1 and 2 practical tests and the theory test to be eligible for direct entry.
The A1 and A2 licenses differ from the rest of the UK's motorbike licences as they are restricted by weight-to-power ratio not engine cc's. Even bikes with 600cc capacity can be A2 conforming if equipped with restrictor kits. However there are a few bikes that claim to be A2 conforming are actually compliant therefore it is recommended to do some research before you purchase one.
A4 Licence
The A4 Licence allows drivers to drive vehicles that have four wheels or more. This licence applies to buses, trucks and coaches. It also covers vehicles that carry dangerous products. Drivers must pass a criminal background test to be able to get the licence. To get an A1 to A4 licence, a driver must attend a driving class or local transportation office. They must also pass a physical test. The course runs for approximately 5 hours (1 day) and consists of a lecture covering defensive driving, driving etiquettes and other related laws.
After the application has been approved If the application is successful, the driver will be issued an 'application notice' that must be displayed at their premises. They'll be charged a fee which varies based on the rateable value of the premises. After paying the cost, the driver will receive their licence summary via post. The remaining pages of the licence should be kept in a safe area, as police or council officials may ask to see them.
